Bhubaneswar: A delegation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) approached Odisha's Director General of Police, Y B Khurania, on Monday, advocating for decisive measures against those responsible for the ongoing assaults on Pranab Balabantaray, a former MLA from Dharmasala in Jajpur district.
In their memorandum, the BJD highlighted that Balabantaray has faced attacks on seven separate occasions over the past ten months, with the most recent incident occurring on April 13 in Arua village, where local police, including the inspector in charge of Jenapur police station, were present.
The delegation called for a thorough investigation into these incidents, asserting that Balabantaray has been the victim of a calculated and vicious attack. His residence, vehicle, and party office have all been targeted.
The BJD expressed disappointment, stating, "Despite multiple FIRs filed previously, it is regrettable that no substantial actions have been taken to prevent or address these violent acts."
